Woking Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Olly Sanderson.

The 21-year-old striker joins on a season-long loan from Premier League side Fulham.

Sanderson joined Fulham at under-9s level, getting his first taste of senior football in September 2022 with then-National League South side Oxford City. A successful loan saw him score four times in six games before being recalled by Fulham.

He would then join up with the Hoops again in their National League campaign of 2023-24, where he scored ten times in 26 games, scoring and assisting against the Cards, before being recalled to join up with then-League Two side Sutton United, where he scored four times in his first EFL spell.

Last season, he spent time on loan at Bradford City and Harrogate Town, before returning to Fulham’s under-21 side this summer. He scored against the Cards with a towering header at Motspur Park in their 3-2 win, and Director of Football Jody Brown says he’s delighted to have finally got his man after tracking his progress for a while.

“When I knew the takeover was happening, and we were coming into Woking, I contacted Fulham for Olly’s availability – that was in November last year,” said Brown.

“We then enquired again in May this year, but as you’d expect when you set the bar high, other clubs were interested in him. He’s always been on our list of 4 or 5 targets. I’ve been keen to build a relationship with Fulham, and the pre-season game at their place, along with a number of ‘almosts’ in terms of loan signings, have started to do that – hopefully this can be the start of a beneficial relationship for both clubs.”

“Olly has EFL experience, and he fits the profile we wanted – can lead the line and play back to goal, as well as stretch the game behind. His performance against us in pre-season cemented that confidence we have in him, he was strong in his duels against [Tunji] Akinola and [Timi] Odusina, he took his goal brilliantly, and his movement was always a threat.”

“In a nutshell, we got our man after a very patient journey.”

Signing is subject to National League clearance.
