Surrey Police have issued the following statement following the Woking v Salisbury game in Bank Holiday Monday:
With regard to the events following the Salisbury game on Bank Holiday Monday, I would like to clarify that no Woking supporters were instigators of the incident.
A group of Aldershot supporters returning from their away fixture at Crawley decided to stop off at Woking to confront Salisbury supporters prior to their meeting in April.
An altercation took place outside the ground in Woking Park which was dispersed. A group of Aldershot Supporters then confronted a group of Salisbury supporters in the town centre. Due to the Police reinforcements that had been called for, no disorder was allowed to take place, with the Aldershot supporters being warned and escorted to the railway station under close supervision.
The Salisbury supporters, who were in one of the town centre pubs, then started being abusive to police, at which point, two were arrested for public order offences before this group too went to the railway station. Both sets of supporters were closely monitored and kept on separate platforms whilst awaiting their respective train home.
As far as I am aware, no Woking supporters were involved at any time during the incident and the appearance of the Aldershot supporters was totally unpredicted.
