Oxford United 1 Woking 0
FA Trophy 2nd Round
19 January 2010
The Cards went down 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium this evening. Missing Jamie Slabber up front – injured in training – Graham Baker’s side lacked the firepower to pull back a sloppy goal conceded on the quarter-hour mark after Woking had enjoyed much the better of the opening phase of the game.
Oxford then spurned several gilt-edged chances to kill the game off before the break and, in the second half, seemed largely content to ‘sit’ on their one-goal lead. Although the Cards played some decent football and created a few openings, the lack of potency up front told in the end and the home side were not tested as rigorously as they might have been and perhaps deserved.
