Guest in the Lounge: Lloyd Wye

The Commercial Team - 18th December 2014

Guest in the Lounge: Lloyd Wye Woking Football Club is pleased to welcome Lloyd Wye as our Guest of the Day in the Geoff Chapple Lounge on New Year’s Day for the Vanarama Conference match against Eastleigh.

Lloyd began his long Woking career in 1984, making his debut in a 2-1 defeat away to Hertford in the Isthmian League Division One on 8th September. The Cards were relegated that season, with Lloyd making just the 4 appearances in the league. He was an almost ever-present in the 86/87 promotion season back to Division One, and helped the club gain promotion to the Isthmian Premier in 89/90.

In 1990 Lloyd scored one of two goals against Bath City in the 4th Qualifying Round of The FA Cup to start the Cards on their famous cup run. The wing-back started against both West Brom in the 3rd round and Everton in the 4th. The following year he played over 30 times in the season which saw Woking promoted to the GM Vauxhall Conference.

He helped Woking win more silverware during the 90s, playing in all 3 of the FA Trophy finals at Wembley, with his last appearance for the Cards being against Dagenham & Redbridge in the 1-0 victory on 18th May 1997.

Woking honoured Lloyd’s fantastic service to the club with a testimonial against Tottenham Hotspur on 4th August 1997. In total Lloyd made over 500 appearances for the Cards, the 2nd highest in the club’s history, and scored over 75 goals.

If you are interested in enjoying a three course meal and hearing Lloyd’s Woking FC memories please contact the Commercial Team.
