News Release on Future of Club - 7 Frequently Asked Questions

10:01am, Wed 11th Apr 2018
Note - all answers are dependent on the outcome of the feasibility study mentioned in the News Release.

Q1. What will this mean for the club?

It means the long term financial security of the club, playing at Kingfield, for our generation and for future generations.

Q2. Why has this suddenly happened?

It hasn’t! – we have been working on seeking new investment into the club, alongside Chris Ingram, since 2002. We have known Wayne Gold, Chair of GolDev, since the spring of 2017. He became our chosen investor in July 2017 after we and the council completed due diligence. So it has taken 16 years to reach this stage!

Q3. Why so long?

Because getting this right for all parties – especially the club – has taken a lot of time, effort and discussions. And those continue going forward.

Q4. So that’s all done then?

An agreement is in place yes, however that only takes us to the start line. Once further discussions have taken place we will be able to share more.

Q5. So, there will be a Fans' Forum?

Yes, after the feasibility study in July when we know we can answer questions that are asked! We don’t want a repeat of the May 2017 Forum when we couldn’t really say anything. When it is held, Wayne will be present so you will be able to meet him.

Q6. Why GolDev?

Over the years we, and Chris, have met many potential investment partners – at least 50 – some were not right for Chris, some not right for the club, others who didn’t have the required funds and many who withdrew. Wayne represents the best opportunity for the club – financially, and in ensuring the club does not get taken advantage of.

Q7. What happened about that South Korean investor, mentioned in The Daily Mail?

That proved to be yet another non starter.

In addition, I will be available in The Boardroom before the match v Bromley on Saturday 14th for anyone who wants to have a chat – 12-1.30pm.

If I am asked any questions I can’t answer, either because we don’t know, or because it is still part of the Non-Disclosure Agreement, I will say so.
