Woking Academy

Dennis North - 14th August 2012

Woking Academy The Woking FC Academy has been operating in its current format for almost 10 years with the aim of helping talented young footballers make progress in their sporting careers whilst continuing with their academic studies.

For the 2012/13 season the Academy will operate out of Woking College and Guildford County School offering subjects which range from 'A' Levels to Sports Coaching courses whilst in addition for the first time we will also be offering places to boys who may wish to be educated elsewhere.

The scheme includes 6 hours of coaching per week by fully-qualified UEFA 'A' and 'B' licenced coaches alongside the choice of academic studies.

The Academy will be running seven teams in the following Leagues: U18 Surrey Youth League; U18 Southern Youth League; U18 Ryman Youth League; U19 British Colleges League (Woking College); U19 English Colleges League (Guildford County School), U19 Football Conference Youth League and as in previous years we will be managing an age unrestricted side (Woking Reserves) playing in the Suburban Football League.

Since its inception in 2003 the newly-structured Academy has been hugely successful and the season 2011/12 was no exception, the most noteworthy achievement was to be crowned Champions of The Suburban Football League Premier A Division.

The Woking 1st Team squad for this season 2012/13 includes seven players who have come through the Academy:-
