Cards ready for second outing

Cards ready for second outing Woking v Reading XI
7.45pm on Tuesday 19 July 2011

The Cards take on a Reading XI tomorrow (Tuesday) evening in their second pre-season friendly.

There were some very positive signs in Friday evening’s defeat at the hands of a highly-talented – and surprisingly resilient – young Arsenal side, especially in the first half when we saw something like Garry’s first choice XI. In particular, all the wholly new signings on display – Jake King, Dale Binns and Adam Newton – showed up well and the returning Gez Sole and Jay Davies both looked lively. The second half was, inevitably, a much more disjointed affair as trialists and younger Woking players came on but Josh Griffiths and Ola Sogbanmu, both from the Academy, certainly made a good impression.

No doubt Garry Hill will use the opportunity again to give most players a run-out. I gather that we will also see trialist Michael Noone (recently with Glenn Hoddle’s Academy in Spain) again in the left-back position.

The Cards will be wearing their new home kit.

The Royals will be bringing their Development Squad to Kingfield, with their first team currently on tour abroad. Not surprisingly, the Championship side have a number of very promising young players. A name to note is that of Jacob Walcott, Theo’s cousin, who has represented England at U17 level.

Admission prices for all the pre-season home games are:

Adults £8
Concessions £4
Under 16s £2

The Cards’ next friendly game is at 3pm on Saturday when Charlton Athletic will be bringing their first team squad to Kingfield.

Come on, you Cards!
