Woking Football Club has received the letter below from Joe McNerney, who today signed for League Two side Crawley Town.
Everyone at Woking Football Club would like to thank Joe for his long-service and recognise the superb way he has conducted himself over the years, both on and off the pitch. We are very proud that Joe has joined the ever-growing list of recent players who have played for the club and gone on to pursue a career in the Football League. We wish Joe all the very best in his future career.
To the staff and supporters of Woking FC,
I wanted to write a short letter to express my appreciation for the time I’ve had at Woking FC. I have been at the club since the age of 16 and it has always felt like home. There has been support from the backroom staff to the directors, the kit men, the management, the supporters and most importantly my fellow players. Without their experience and guidance I would not be where I am today and I have been lucky to be surrounded by some of the very best at this level, never more so than in my final season. I have been given the opportunity to learn my trade at a fantastic club and develop the necessary skills to progress.
I am very grateful for the patience and trust shown over my 9 years at the club. Like any player, I want to do all i can to fulfil my potential however, should i return to Woking in the future, I would have no problem playing for the same management and fans at a great club I owe so much to.
Many Thanks
Joe McNerney
