Dave Tarpey signs a new deal

Daniel O'Sullivan - 8th July 2020

Dave Tarpey signs a new deal Dave Tarpey has committed to Woking Football Club for the 2020/21 season, signing a new deal.

Dave becomes the second Woking player to commit to the club for the imminent new season, with Matt Jarvis signing a new contract on Tuesday.

The forward, 31, started his career at Henley Town, before joining Basingstoke Town in 2007. In 2009 he signed for Hampton & Richmond Borough, where he had loan spells with Walton & Hersham, and Chertsey Town. He then spent 18 months at Farnborough before moving back to the Beveree in January 2014.

At the start of the 2014/15 season, Dave signed for Maidenhead United where he scored 36 league goals in his first two seasons, and then in the 2016/17 season, he scored 44 goals in 41 league games to help Maidenhead win the Vanarama National League South.

Barnet, then in League Two, signed Dave from the Magpies in August 2017. Unfortunately, he injured his ACL in only his second appearance for the Bees, which ruled him out for the remainder of that season.

In an attempt to regain fitness Dave had a loan spell at Woking in early 2019, scoring three goals in just under a month, in what turned out to be a short but successful spell.

He then committed to the Cards permanently in June 2019, going on to have a great season injury-free. He won the 2019/20 Goal of the Season with his strike against Hartlepool, and was consistently one of the highest performers in Dowse's XI, ending the league season with 8 goals from right-wing.

He now resigns for the Cards, looking to continue making a big impression on the National League.

The signing is subject to FA approval.
