Casey and Cuthbert Contracts Extended

Woking Football Club is pleased to announce that Josh Casey and Scott Cuthbert have both triggered one-year extensions to their contracts.

The pair stay with the Club through to the end of the 2023/24 season.

Club captain Casey, 31, and centre-back Cuthbert, 35, have featured 39 and 38 times respectively for the Cardinals in 2022/23.

Josh Casey has been Woking captain since joining from Hampton & Richmond Borough in 2018. During his time at the Club, he has won promotion from National League South, reached the Third Round of the Emirates FA Cup against Watford, and reached the semi-finals of the FA Trophy. He has accumulated over 200 appearances for the Cardinals. The skipper has started 37 league matches and leads the squad with 3,253 minutes played.

Scott Cuthbert featured over 400 times in the Football League for Leyton Orient, Luton Town, Stevenage, and Swindon Town before joining the Cards this past summer. Upon signing for Woking in 2022, Manager Darren Sarll commented on how 'delighted' he was to secure Scott's signature, with him 'turning down many other clubs' to join the Cardinals.

The pair are on course this season to be key parts of the Club's highest league finish since 1997/98.

“The Club is delighted that both Josh and Scott will remain at the Laithwaite Community Stadium through the end of the 2023/24 season,” said Woking Chief Executive John Katz. “Josh has been a massive part of the Club’s success across his five years at Woking, and he has continued to prove – week in and week out – what an asset he is both on and off the pitch.”

“Scott has been an invaluable addition to our back four and to the core of this football club. His booming voice is heard throughout the grounds of the league, and he has brought a work ethic to the Club that makes the players around him better,” added Katz.
