Woking vs. Rochdale
Vanarama National League
15th August 2023
19:45 Kick-Off

Woking will look to bounce back following Saturday's defeat to Altrincham when they welcome recently relegated Rochdale to the Laithwaite.

After conceding three goals on Saturday, Darren Sarll will hope that his side can find the adequate response to overcome a team who recorded their first win at this level on Saturday.

There were some positives, however, as Sam Habergham and Charlie Wakefield returned to the bench, with the former making his first competitive Woking appearance. Cards fans will hope that Josh Casey recovers in time for the game after an injury in training saw him ruled out of the Altrincham fixture, whilst news is awaited on the fitness of Rohan Ince after he went off injured in the first half.

Supporter Notice
Supporters are notified that roadworks are currently taking place on Kingfield Road, approaching Wych Hill, and encouraged to utilise the designated matchday carpark, Heathside (GU22 7AG), and make sure to arrive at the game in good time.

Opposition Watch
A League One side as recently as 2020/21, Dale are a side who have had their problems both on and off the pitch in recent years. An attempted hostile takeover of the club in July 2021 saw them deducted six points, albeit suspended for two years, and this was only settled in court in August 2022, whilst an 18th placed finish in 2021/22 was followed up by a rock bottom finish in League Two last season, finishing eight points from safety.

Three managers last season meant stability was hard to come by, but the last of those three, Jimmy McNulty has taken the club into this division, and has recorded one win and one loss from their first two games. A 1-0 defeat at home to newly promoted Ebbsfleet United in front of the TNT Sports cameras was followed up by Saturday's 1-0 victory at newly promoted Oxford City, with record goalscorer Ian Henderson providing the goods. The 38-year-old is enjoying his second spell with Dale, having rejoined the club in 2022, and only he and former Card Jimmy Keohane remain from the side that were relegated from League One.

New signings have included Harvey Gilmour from rivals FC Halifax Town, Kairo Mitchell from Notts County, Louie Moulden on loan from Wolves and experienced midfielder Adam Clayton from Bradford City, whilst forward Tyrese Sinclair enjoyed a superb loan spell at Altrincham last season, scoring five in eleven games. Former Woking star Tahvon Campbell will play no part for Dale until at least January, as he has been loaned to Wealdstone.

Last Time Out
Surprisingly, these two teams have never met in any fixture, so history will be made on Tuesday night.
