Chesterfield vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Tuesday 23rd January 2024
19:45 Kick-Off
Woking will return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to the SMH Group Stadium to take on runaway leaders Chesterfield.
With home games against Oxford City and Gateshead both postponed, it will have been 17 days since the Cards last played at Solihull Moors. With three new signings plus Dion Kelly-Evans yet to make their Woking debuts, it could be a very different side to the one defeated by the Moors.

Opposition Watch
Eleven points clear of second place with two games in hand, Paul Cook’s Spireites have been relentless this season. Currently nearing a club record run of home wins, Tuesday night will be as challenging a game as ever for the Cards.
Top scorer is former Wigan and Northern Ireland man Will Grigg with 16 in 26 games, whilst former Pompey and Wigan midfielder Tom Naylor has eight goals from defensive midfield; the Spireites in total have seven players with five or more goals.
Across their last six, Chesterfield have won three and lost three, with the three losses all coming away from home. Solihull were 2-0 victors on Boxing Day, whilst Championship side Watford needed injury time to secure a 2-1 win in the FA Cup. A Spireite academy side were only defeated 2-0 by National League South side Welling United as they bowed out of the FA Trophy, so full focus is on wrapping up the title as soon as possible.
Last Time Out
Goals from Joe Quigley and Armando Dobra were enough for a regulation 2-0 Chesterfield win at the Laithwaite in November under the caretaker management of Ian Dyer, whilst the Spireites ran out 1-0 victors over the Cards in March, in front of the TV cameras. An Ollie Banks penalty was enough to ultimately give Chesterfield the upper hand in the race for third place.
This came just a month after a superb Woking performance in their last game in Derbyshire gave them a 3-1 win. Goals from Padraig Amond, Jim Kellermann and James Daly secured a famous victory last February.
