Vanarama National League

15:00 Kick-Off

Woking are back on the road on Saturday when they face FC Halifax Town.

After a run of three consecutive home games ended with late drama against Hartlepool United in front of the TNT cameras, the Cards face a side who are well in the playoff mix.

Michael Doyle will hope that the likes of Luke Wilkinson, Rhys Browne and Jim Kellermann are nearing a return to action, having given minutes to the likes of Manny Oyeleke and Paul Osew on Saturday.

There has also been consecutive starts for Curtis Edwards and Jayden Luker, who have both impressed since signing in January; Edwards from Norwegian side Stabaek and Luker on loan from Luton Town.

Opposition Watch
The Shaymen’s recent form has been mixed at best, with five wins since the start of November, along with six losses and four draws, leaving manager Chris Millington under some pressure with the Halifax fanbase. However, he has them 9th in the table, just one point off the final playoff place, although they have played a game more than 7th placed Aldershot Town.

Many of their problems have been in front of goal; only five sides including the Cards have scored fewer than the Shaymen’s 39 goals this season, which has been made even more challenging by the departure of star winger Millenic Alli to League One side Exeter City. With seven goals in 21 games, Alli was by far the most prolific attacker; his departure leaves three Halifax players on four goals as their top scorers still at the club.

However, they boast the third best defence in the league with only 38 goals conceded leaving just Bromley and Southend with better defensive records. Star players include full back Tylor Golden who scored the winner at the Laithwaite the last time these two met, as well as former Stockport centre back Jordan Keane.

Last Time Out

As mentioned, Tylor Golden’s injury time goal was enough to seal the points for the Shaymen back in October, as Tunji Akinola’s first half stoppage time goal was cancelled out by a fine strike from Golden after Angelo Cappello’s penalty levelled the game.

However, the last time Woking went to the Shay in October 2023, they were 4-0 victors thanks to two from Reece Grego-Cox, a Kian Spence own goal and a James Daly strike.

Of the 29 meetings between the two, 10 have gone the way of the Shaymen, with 9 Woking wins and 10 draws.
