Basingstoke Town v Woking
Pre-season friendly
2pm on Saturday 2 August 2014
Garry Hill’s side travel to Basingstoke on Saturday afternoon (NB 2pm kick-off) for their penultimate pre-season friendly. It’s free admission for all, so why not trundle down to The Camrose to enjoy the fare?
WOKING
Cards fans will be hoping to get their first glimpse of James Clarke on Saturday. The central defender, signed from Salisbury City, has missed the pre-season so far with an injury but it’s hoped that he will be fit enough to play a part in this game.
The Cards have lost their last two friendlies against League opposition but showed enough in the first half against Crawley Town on Wednesday night to suggest that there is reason to be hopeful about the season ahead, especially if some more fizz can be provided up front.
BASINGSTOKE TOWN
Basingstoke have had an encouraging set of results in pre-season, with three wins and four draws so far:
Winchester City 2 Basingstoke Town 2
Basingstoke Town 1 Yeovil Town 1
Basingstoke Town 1 Reading XI 0
Hungerford Town 1 Basingstoke Town 3
Basingstoke Town 1 Newport County 1
Swindon Supermarine 2 Basingstoke Town 2
Fleet Town 1 Basingstoke Town 4
The Town squad includes ex-Cards Liam Enver-Marum, Manny Williams and Jay Gasson. New signings include strikers Julian Owusu, Lloyd Macklin and Sam Argent and winger Chris Flood from Winchester City.
Basingstoke finished in 14th place in the Conference South last season and open their new campaign with a home game on 9 August against promoted Hemel Hempstead Town.

NEXT GAME
Woking’s final friendly is an attractive home game against a West Ham XI on Tuesday 5 August. And then the real thing starts as the Cards travel to Alfreton on Saturday 9 August. Have you booked your place on the Cards Trust coach yet?
