The Football Conference is delighted to announce this season’s Blue Square Bet Premier Promotion Final will be held at the City of Manchester Stadium, the home of Manchester City FC.
The final has moved from Wembley Stadium this season after a potential clash with the UEFA Champions League Final. After some consideration, the Football Conference are confident that the venue chosen, with a capacity of 47,715, ticks all the right boxes.
The City of Manchester Stadium, which hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and the UEFA Cup Final in 2008, has state of the art facilities for fans, excellent corporate facilities, large parking availability and easy access from all parts of the country.
The showpiece, with the ultimate prize of a place in the Football League, will take place on Saturday 21st May 2011.
The Football Conference Chairman Brian Lee said “We are thrilled to have secured a world renowned venue of the quality of the City of Manchester Stadium. Having enquired about several Premier League venues it was unanimously agreed that Manchester City is the ideal stadium for our Promotion Final”
Steve Sayer, MCFC Chief Commercial Officer, commented, “Manchester City is delighted to be able to host the Blue Square Bet Premier Promotion Final this season. This is the showpiece fixture for non-league football and a big prize awaits the winner. The City of Manchester Stadium will deliver a fantastic event for the clubs involved, their players and supporters alike.”
Mike Summerbee, Manchester City’s Club Ambassador said, “It is an honour to host this match at the City of Manchester Stadium. For as long as I can remember the Football Conference has been hugely important, particularly in the North. It provides an invaluable training ground for younger players, and we are very excited to host this event in Manchester.”
